Award-winning writer, editor and photographer
Welcome to my website. It's a home for the words I write, some photos I've taken and a bit about various projects I've curated.
I write mostly about travel, often involving trekking, wildlife-watching or delving into odd corners of Asia, Africa and other far-flung spots. But I also write about the wonders of Britain and Europe, wildlife and conservation, books, restaurants, hotels and bars. I love running, playing football and eating cheese, too, though I don't write about those so much. (That's me above, scribbling notes in the Laikipia region north of Mount Kenya, in case you're interested.) My work appears in newspapers such as The Telegraph, The Independent, The Times and Metro, Lonely Planet books, magazines including Wanderlust, Ultratravel, National Geographic Traveller, BBC Wildlife, France magazine, Nature's Home (RSPB member magazine), Travel Africa, BBC Countryfile, BBC World Histories and Sunday Times Travel Magazine, and websites including lonelyplanet.com, TravelDK.com, BBC.com/travel and greentraveller.co.uk. I co-edit the in-flight magazine ZiNG for LIAT Caribbean Airline, and produce lively print and digital content, customer magazines, brochures and campaigns for various clients, particularly tour operators and tourist boards.
